Is your silencer defective? Do you want to replace your original part for a sports car silencer ? Certain signs of wear should not be overlooked by motorists. Have your original part replaced for a silencer suitable for sports vehicles.

HOW DOES A CAR MUFFLER WORK?

The muffler in your car plays an important role in the operation of the vehicle. Its main function is to reduce the exhaust noise of combustion engine gases.

It can be made up of three elements:

  • the catalyst: it is used to reduce pollution emissions, it is fixed at the outlet of the collector,
  • the central silencer (or intermediate): it is not always present on small city cars,
  • the rear silencer (muffler): it is located at the end of the exhaust line and helps reduce noise.

The best muffler for v8 is a spare part that can be easily assembled in a few steps. For sports cars, the auto sports brand Prowler has different ranges of exhaust parts suitable for high speeds with EEC approval:

  • Double-ended silencer for a tuning design
  • Stainless steel silencer for a racing look
  • Universal competition silencer

The assembly is done in place of the origin.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF WEAR ON A MUFFLER?

Note: the car silencer is an exhaust part that wears out very quickly if you only make short trips of less than 10 minutes. On short distances, the exhaust line does not have time to heat up enough to allow the water to evaporate. The accumulation of this water will cause corrosion of the muffler. Changing your original silencer will become essential so as not to deteriorate the proper functioning of the complete line.

On average, its lifespan is 80,000 km if the vehicle is not driven regularly, or if it only makes very short trips. On a new vehicle, your exhaust will last about 5 years, compared to only 2 to 3 for a vehicle over 5 years old.

Signs of wear:

  • High fuel consumption
  • Abnormal noise during acceleration
  • Slam at floor level (baffles unsoldered)

If your vehicle has these signs, have your muffler replaced quickly to avoid overconsumption of fuel and to prevent further deterioration.

EXHAUST REGULATIONS GROUP N

For passenger vehicles and motorcycles, the law emanating from the National Assembly and the Senate dated June 15 and 16, 2016 prohibits any modification of the exhaust line, removing the silencer or catalyst, or installing an unapproved system may result in a fine of 1,500 euros.

However, for competition vehicles from Group N, the FIA standard regarding exhausts stipulates that it is possible to carry out certain modifications including: removing the interior of the original silencers, modifying the exhaust from the first pot towards the exit. You can therefore use Group N mufflers .
